The founders of Lanark County’s newest brewery, Weatherhead Brew Co. have combined a love of beer and Lanark County history to create a business that is steeped in both. With a name that pays tribute to the local historical figure Samuel Weatherhead, and a location with its own industrial history, Weatherhead Brew Co. is set to hit the brewing world by storm.
When it comes to tying history to the business, the location for Weatherhead Brew Co.’s brewery is strategic. Located in one of Lanark County’s most historic towns, heritage Perth, the brewery will be situated in the old Wampole pharmaceutical factory, the very last Wampole building still standing.
Take a tour of the brewery and delight in the funky, old-meets-new vibe of exposed beams and brick the former industrial location provides. The brewery also has a unique placement in beautiful downtown Perth that allows visitors to enjoy a view of the Tay River and the functioning heritage swing bridge. Right next door is the old Bridge Master’s house, which holds great history in its wooden bones.
Add a rotating selection of four flavourful beers will make sure there is something for everyone, whether you’re a beer lover, history lover, or both!
Enjoy Weatherhead’s IPA, aptly named “Pilot,” that is a strong beer representing the owners’ passion for the craft of brewing beer. Pilot is described as an easy-drinking and refreshing IPA, a hazy blend of Simcoe, Mosaic and Citra hops that combine for a bold, hoppy, tropical aroma and taste.
